All new students should wear something comfortable and easy to move in, such as sweats. The only things you will really need are a white belt and bokken.

After you've been with the class and have decided that Kobu Shin Ryu battojutsu is for you, you should purchase a white gi (top) and black hakama (traditional culotte-style trousers). Kyu-grade students will wear the Kobu Shin Ryu patch over the left breast. Yudansha wear a black gi with the Kobu Shin Ryu mon embroidered on the back.
